Four teleprompter modes
Open Teleprompter plays the same script in four surfaces—rehearsal, recording, slide talks, and live:
| Mode | Best for | One-liner |
|---|---|---|
| Board | Rehearsal, landscape, external display | Full-screen scroll, richest controls |
| Camera | Talking-head recording | Script over the camera preview |
| PPT | Present slides / posters and export | Wall + slides + circular face (prompt not in export) |
| Floating | Douyin / Kuaishou / Channels live | Script above other apps |
All four share the draft and TOC, and support constant speed & AI Follow. Switching modes does not require copying the script.
PPT teleprompter is iOS-first in the current App build—see PPT teleprompter.
How to choose
Use Board when you…
- Rehearse pacing and pauses;
- Need large landscape type or a second screen;
- Want full TOC, mirror, and guide-line controls (Prompt settings).
Board is for “read without facing the lens.” For selfie videos, switch to Camera.
Use Camera when you…
- Need eye-line toward the lens while reading;
- Shoot short-form talk tracks without slides;
- Want to check framing with the overlay visible.
Keep type size from covering the face; rehearse at constant speed before the final take.
Use PPT when you…
- Present PPT / posters and want a composed export;
- Need wall + slides + circular face in the final video;
- May change slides during the take.
The prompt overlay is for you only—not burned into the export. Import your own posters before recording. Guide: PPT teleprompter.
Use Floating when you…
- Must stay inside the live app;
- Need the script always on top while chatting or selling;
- Go live on phone or desktop and still glance at the next line.
Floating needs the system overlay permission—see Go live with floating prompt.
Suggested workflow
- Write & section the script in Create scripts.
- Rehearse on Board at constant speed.
- Record: talking-head with Camera, or slides with PPT.
- Go live with Floating, with opening and CTA sections marked.
Non-member daily quotas: Constant speed & AI Follow and Membership.
Shared controls
Common knobs (exact list depends on the App): type size, line spacing, scroll speed, mirror, reading guide, light/dark.
Camera, PPT, and Floating also limit visible lines or overlay placement so the script does not cover the face or slides—unlike Board’s full view.
Common mistakes
- Thinking you must duplicate the script per mode;
- Using Camera or PPT during a real live session (use Floating);
- Picking Camera when you needed slides in the export;
- Oversized type blocking the face or slide;
- Blaming the mode when Follow drifts—check mic, network, and noise first (FAQ).
